Santiago and off to ColombiaSantiago and off to Colombia

Just a quick update this time. We made it in one piece and without any incidents to Santiago and arrived at about mid day in our Appartement for two days. The original plan was to spend more time in Chile and around Santiago, but due to the political unrest and instability, we decided to cut it short to a minimum. A shame really as the brief impression we got from Chile is very positive. We couldn’t change our flights heading from Santiago to Cartagena, so we spent two days in Santiago.

I booked a hotel in the business district of Las Condes which was and is so far unaffected by the clashes and riots. We felt completely safe and didn’t see anything but had a few conversations with people and downtown is a different story…
We walked around and found a nice park where we spent most of the day on playgrounds. The kids definitely deserved a rest day after the long trip up the country.

Very early start and first scheduled Uber trip to the airport, and we were off for another 8 hours to Cartagena. All went well, we checked into our pretty awesome AirBNB with sea views, pool and in a good location. Very much looking forward to the next few weeks with a slower pace or a start before my family arrives and the pace picks up over Christmas, New Years and Gela’s wedding.

The weather is awesome here for sure, we have to get used to the heat but I am sure with a nice pool on the roof and a beach a few meters away – we will be fine.
