We had a taxi from Arqepiua to Cabanaconde. On the way we had two stops one at some warm pools to refresh from the long bus ride. And then later we stopped at Colca Canyon and our taxi driver found the first Condor in the distance. The next day we headed back to Colca Canyon in the morning. We didn’t see any condors until an hour later. We just left the first mirador (view point) and then headed to the next one. And 2 minutes later one flys in front of us only 20 meters away. And after that a humminbird came to with a green breast. And after that condors just kept on coming, some close, some far in the distance. One young one even did circles around us and then when all the pepole left, a family of condors flew right over us. After that we went back to the hotel and did a walk a bit down the canyon and even then we saw at least 5 condors. The next day we had a quick stop at the canyon again, the second deepest in the world two times deeper than the grand canyon. We were about to leave when a condor came and landed right beside the road. That is extremely rare at this time of year. We got really close to it and got good photos, he even streched his wings out. Then we took a taxi back to Arqepiua and saw some flamingos, and on the way we had to go through a lighting storm.
